Mobile rock chip repair — Ogden, Utah $0 out of pocket
Rock chip in your windshield? I come to you, it takes about twenty minutes, and with comprehensive coverage nearly every carrier waives the deductible — so it’s free. I verify your exact coverage on the call before I touch the glass. If it’s not covered, it’s $85 cash and you decide on the spot. Either way works.

Most comprehensive policies cover chip repair with the deductible waived, because a repair costs your insurer a fraction of a windshield replacement. Most of my customers pay nothing. I confirm your coverage with your carrier on a short call, with you on the line, before any work starts — so you know before I begin, not after.
It’s a comprehensive glass claim, not an at-fault or collision claim. Under Utah Code 31A-19-211, an insurer can’t raise your premium over a claim from an incident you weren’t at fault for.
- First chip, insurance
- $0 to you
- Cash, no claim

How it works
I come to you — driveway, work lot, wherever the car is parked. The repair takes about twenty minutes. If you’re filing a claim, we make one short call together first.
If the crack is longer than two feet, send me a photo before we pick a time so I can take a look.
Park out of direct sunlight for a couple of hours before your appointment if you can. A cool windshield lets the resin cure properly.
Why now
Heat, cold, and one rough road turn a chip into a crack. A crack means a full windshield replacement, which is not covered the same way. Fixing it now is the easy call.
For businesses
I run on-site repair days for employers and fleets. Employees sign up, I work the lot for the day, each repair goes through that employee’s own comprehensive coverage. It costs the company nothing and takes about fifteen minutes of one person’s time to organize. I also do dealer inventory recon — front-line units cleared in a single pass, invoiced monthly.
To set one up, text me at 385-212-4486.
My warranty, and why it has an end date
If a repair I’ve completed spreads or fails under normal conditions, I come back and re-repair it at no charge — through February 28, 2027.
I’m being straight with you about that date. On March 1, I leave for two years of missionary service, and I won’t be able to honor a warranty I can’t physically service. I’d rather tell you now than send you a card with fine print you’d discover in April.
If a repair I did fails after I’ve left, email me at james@lettersfromhyde.com and I’ll refund what was paid for that repair in full, no argument.
Fine print
Covers workmanship on the repaired chip only. Does not cover new damage, chips beyond a reparable threshold prior to service, or full windshield replacement.
If something goes wrong
Chip repair carries a small, real risk: occasionally a chip runs into a crack during the repair. It’s uncommon, and it usually means the damage was already at the edge of what could be repaired. You deserve to know how I handle it before I start rather than after.
You’re not charged anything. No claim is filed and no invoice goes to your insurer. I document it with photos and give you copies. If the windshield needs replacement, I contribute $100 toward your replacement cost or deductible, paid within seven days, and I’ll help you file the claim at no charge.
About
I’m James Hyde. I run this myself. I’m working through February before I leave for a two-year mission, and every repair I do between now and then funds that.
